EDMUND, king of East Anglia (c. ), succeeded to the East Anglian throne in while he was yet but a boy. According to Abbo, followed by Florence of Worcester, he was “ ex antiquorum Saxonum prosapia,” which would seem to mean that he was of foreign origin and that he belonged to the Old Saxons of the continent.
Eadmundi is on fols. v.6 These two works fill the book. The leaves measure mm. x mm. The binding is modern. There are eleven gatherings, all of four bifolia except for nos. 10 and 11 which are of two and five bifolia respectively. The last leaf of no.
10 has been cut out. The text is in one clear English Caroline script of ca. Jocelyn's biography of Abbot Samson (d. ) is one of the best-known manuscripts. Abbo of Fleury's Passio Sancti Eadmundi was commissioned by Ramsey Abbey around and describes Edmund's death and sainthood.
